KS1 and KS2 Curriculum

In Years 1 to 6 our curriculum builds upon the success of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage, developing the girls’ individual skills and talents.

Girls have daily lessons in Mathematics and English, and other subjects are taught regularly as part of the weekly timetable, such as:

  • History
  • Geography
  • Religious Education
  • Science
  • Art
  • Computer Science

Subjects are often integrated by our primary experts to enhance a ‘topic’ approach to learning which engages the girls’ interest and enables them to make links and connections between the subjects and skills.

Our fantastic facilities such as our purpose built and well-resourced library, gymnasium, sports hall and performing arts centre, provide the perfect learning environment for our girls. We also have opportunities to use the specialist facilities at the Senior School, which make our Infant and Junior School curriculum offer, a truly extraordinary experience.

Music, French, Drama and Sport are taught by specialist teachers who provide an exceptional level of expertise in developing the skills and talents of even the very youngest girls. Platforms to compete against other schools and perform in front of an audience are plentiful, and this only enhances the curriculum offer even more.

Some of the older Junior School girls are also taught parts of the curriculum by Senior School staff, which not only provides outstanding specialist teaching, but also serves to support our excellent transition programme for all Year 6 girls into Year 7 and the start of their Senior School career.
