GDST cricket – breaking boundaries

1st May 2018

A very exciting sporting event took place last week as the GDST Cricket Select XI took on the MCC Women at Hampstead Cricket Club in London, and Year 13 girl Jaya Sekhon co-Captained the GDST side.

The weather could have ruined the day but the match went ahead without too much drama, off the pitch! Cricket is enjoying something of a highlight as a sport for girls and women, and this event was set up particularly to inspire other girls to take up the sport and get involved in physical activity in general. You can read the GDST write-up of the event here.

We’re very proud of our sporting opportunities and achievements here at NGHS, and our girls take part (and succeed) in many and varied sporting pursuits outside of school too, with our full support and encouragement.

We were so thrilled for Jaya to co-Captain the GDST Select XI, and even though they did not win the match, Jaya was the highest scoring captain and did the school proud. Well done Jaya!
