Every year we are incredibly proud of our Black History Month celebrations and the engagement shown by our school community – Black History Month 2025 continued in the same vein.
How we celebrated Black History Month
Across the whole shool there were assemblies, activities, displays and performances highlighting the excellence and contribution made to our society by key black figures across the years, past and present.
Everybody got enthusiastically involved, staff and students alike. We had book recommnendations from the English Department Book Club, to fantastic musical performances organised by our Music Department.
And we do have to mention the contribution of our wonderful prefects, especially our Diversty Prefect, Eleni, who wrote an account of all of the activities which was published on the Indepenedent Schools Council website and you can read HERE.
The month of October also includes the Wear Red day as part of the Show Racism the Red Card charity. As this fell on the last day of the autumn half-term here we were able to take part and encouraged everybody to wear red.

We take Diversity and Inclusion very seriously here at NGHS and we’re proud of our mixed community. Celebrating Black History Month is just one way we can show our support and inclusion, and it’s also a lot of fun!
