We had another lovely morning here at NGHS with students and their families.
Our Year 11s are to be commended on the GCSE results they collected today; we’re very proud of what they’ve achieved and they should be too.
With a quarter of the cohort gaining all top marks (Grade 9-7), and nearly 20% gaining Grades 9 and 8 in at least eight subjects, they have a lot to celebrate. They are, after all, the most disrupted year group in recent times. Having started their Senior School life during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was never going to be plain sailing for them, yet look at what they have achieved – it’s really very impressive.
The best performing subjects include Languages (French, Spanish, German and Latin) where 50% of grades were awarded at Grade 9, Geography with 47% awarded at Grade 9, plus more great results in Physics, Art, and DT. Well done all of you on some great teaching and learning.

Julie Keller, Head, commented:
“I’m so proud of this Year 11 cohort, who faced challenges we’d never seen before with the impact of lockdown and Covid. This cohort missed out on several important milestones including their Year 6 graduation and the all-important first year of Senior School, where new friendships are normally forged, and new subjects and interests developed. Given these difficult circumstances, to achieve such good GCSE results is remarkable.”
As well as their results, many students are celebrating securing their places into our Sixth Form to study subjects as varied as Further Maths, Psychology, Classics, German and Politics. Julie added:
“Having faced many challenges, these girls have shown so much resilience and tenacity during their GCSE years. We can’t wait to celebrate their ongoing success in the Sixth Form.”
Congratualtions everybody – you’ve done a great job!
