On Wednesday 8 October we welcomed our NGHS community including current families, friends of the school, and our alumnae to an Archives evening in celebration of our 150th year.
Our Senior Library was filled with old school photos, newspaper clippings and artefacts from across the generations. Being 150 years old, we certainly have a lot of history to explore!
We were able to showcase some of our earliest students on record dating back to 1878, share research on the first four Head Mistresses, who our School Houses are proudly named after, along with our wonderful Whetstone of Wit collection – a society founded by girls from the school in 1877.
With thanks to our Head Librarian, Mrs Whitty, for her expertise and knowledge that allowed us to share this wonderful evening which everybody found really fascinating.
