Well Done Class of 2024!
Our students received some fantastic A Level results this year.
Through hard work and dedication, they’re achieving their dreams, and by embracing everything the school has to offer, they’ve developed into passionate and socially conscious young women.
We’re incredibly proud of them and would like to tell you a bit more about how they did, and what they’re up to next.
Sanobar, who was awarded our Glitter Ball Sixth Form bursary in 2022, achieved a fantastic 3 As in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and an A* in her EPQ for a place at her first choice, University of Leicester to study Medicine. Alongside her studies, Sanobar volunteered at the Queen’s Medical Centre, part of the Nottingham University Hospital Trust, one of the UK’s busiest teaching hospitals as well as mentoring Year 12 students here at school. After winning one of the GDST Travel Scholarships this summer, Sanobar travelled to Argentina, where she put her fluency in Spanish to good use, taking part in a Medical Internship in a local healthcare setting. Well done Sanobar!
Olivia, with a fantastic set of 3 As in Art, English Literature and Government and Politics, and an A* in her EPQ, achieved her first choice of Nottingham Trent University to study the competitive world of Fashion Marketing and Branding. As a Wellbeing Prefect, Olivia was an invaluable member of the Peer Educator team here in school, delivering lessons on mental health and leading a team of Mental Wellness Ambassadors. Having been awarded the Collett Prize for Outstanding Effort in Art, this surely helped Olivia with her hardest challenge yet – creating this year’s Sixth Form Yearbook! Thank you Olivia and congratulations!
Alice, one of our wonderful Deputy Head Girls, has been awarded an amazing A*A A* in Economics, Maths and Psychology, for which she achieved the highest grade in her class, and now takes up her first choice place at University of Bristol to study Economics and Management. Alice has played a key part in school life having been with us since Reception! She has represented the school on many occasions, including playing Netball at a national level, taking part in open events, and in the GDST Psychology Cup. Alice was also recognised during our Year 13 celebration evening with the Lucinda Hancock Prize for Excellence in Social Sciences. Congratulations and well done Alice!
Aminah has been the recipient of many awards here in school already, including a full bursary award when she joined us in Year 7. As well as starring in many of our school drama productions, including West Side Story and Pride & Prejudice, Aminah was also the MC for our TEDx talk last year, the Communications Prefect, and won the Year 13 Performing Arts Award, the Campbell Cain Wealth Management Award for Economics, and the Alexis Peadon Memorial Prize for Making a Difference! She has now achieved her first choice University of Bristol to study Economics and Management. So proud of you Aminah!
Alessia is the last of four sisters who’ve all been through the school too – and all with brilliant results. She’s fully thrown herself into the wider life of the school since joining us in Year 7. She’s played Netball and Hockey to a high standard, is a Hastings House Captain and received her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award this summer. We’re so sad to say farewell to Alessia and her family, but with her fantastic A A* A* grades in Biology, Geography and Psychology, she is going on to her first choice University of Durham to study Biological Sciences. Well done Alessia for everything you’ve achieved!
Jasmine achieved the top results in her class in Chemistry, Further Maths and Physics and, with four A* grades including Maths, accepted her first choice place at University of Nottingham to study Mathematics. These results top off an excellent year, as Jasmine also won the Dr Sheila Kohlinsky Prize for Excellence in Physics and the Sandra Allen Award for Excellence in Mathematics. Jasmine is also a fantastic climber, winning the Ashwell Memorial Cup for Outdoor Learning, and being the face of several NGHS and GDST advertising campaigns. We will miss you Jasmine!
Khushi, our fantastic Head Girl, showed us just why she deserved all her success this year. Having achieved the highest GCSE results two years ago, she was awarded our Sixth Form Academic Scholarship and since then has been at the heart of our Sixth Form, supporting other students, taking part in all our Open events and finally winning the Phillips Award for Ability and Effort in History and the Swinnerton Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to the School at our Year 13 Celebration evening. With her A A* A grades in English Literature, History and Maths, and 100% (A*) in her EPQ on the intriguing subject of “Political Correctness is a Form of Self Censorship”, she is now off to her first choice University of Warwick to read PPE. Khushi, thank you for your huge contribution to the school and good luck!
Issy, our other wonderful Deputy Head Girl, gained a fantastic 3 As, in Biology, Chemistry and Geography, and now takes her place at University of East Anglia to read Medicine. Issy has achieved so much since joining us back in Reception! She’s represented both the school and the GDST to high level in both Netball and Football, and won the Carol Stinchcombe PE Department Award for her contribution to sport. Issy will also be travelling independently to Kuala Lumpur on a GDST Travel Scholarship to undertake a surgical attachment for six weeks at the University of Malaysia Hospital. Best of luck and congratulations Issy!
Grace, who was awarded the Diana Holmes Bursary Award when she joined us two years ago, is also our Sustainability Prefect, and received the Margaret Rose Pepper Award for Outstanding Merit in the Sciences. Grace has excelled with her four A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics and is off to Imperial College London, recently ranked the second best university in the world, to study Biology. Congratulations and good luck Grace!
Yvonne achieved an amazing triple A* in Economics, Maths and Psychology, gaining a place at her first choice University of Warwick to read Economics. Joining us for Sixth Form from Hong Kong, Yvonne is a keen badminton player, and has been top of her class all year in Maths, demonstrating her aptitude in the UK Senior Maths Challenge with a Bronze certificate. Congratulations Yvonne!
