A model student since she started with us in Year 2, Ela is thoroughly deserving of her 3 A* grades in History, English Literature and Politics, for which she was also top performer in all three subjects, including 99% mark in English Lit! Ela also achieved a fourth A* in her EPQ  on the Downfall of the Ottoman Empire. Ela is now on her way to the bright lights of London to study English at UCL (University College London).

Ela has won numerous prizes and awards during her school career including the The Coombs Award for contribution to Shakespeare, the GDST Laurie Magnus Poetry Prize, The Betty Boyden prize for Creative Writing, The Winifred Pretty Prize for the Future Study of History as well as The Friends of the Trust Prize for Services to the School.

She also enlightened us back in May 2023 when she took part in our first ever TEDx event, speaking eloquently and passionately on the difficult subject of tackling period poverty – a role she has carried out brilliantly as our Wellbeing Prefect. Watch her talk here:

With her commitment to academic excellence and to the wider school community, Ela was awarded the Holmes Bursary in 2021. Named for Diana Holmes, alumna of the school, this bursary rewards talented girls like Ela, to benefit from our wonderful Sixth Form education, and prepares them for whatever they want to achieve in life.

Many congratulations on all of your incredible achievements Ela, we will miss you!
