Step 2 – Entrance assessment
We are a selective school with high academic standards. Once you have completed the application form, we will arrange for your daughter to take part in an assessment. This varies depending on the year group, and aims to identify girls’ potential and passion for learning.
Infant and Junior School
Reception (age 4+)
Head of Nursery, Infant and Juniors, Mrs Laura Fowler will meet with parents and children initially for a “Ready for School” assessment. Your daughter will be asked some informal, fun questions to help us determine her readiness for school. We will arrange this for a time that suits you.
Years 1 – 6
Head of Nursery, Infant and Juniors, Mrs Laura Fowler, will meet with parents and children at a convenient time to suit you. Your daughter will then be invited to take part in an assessment. This is a great way for you to get to know us, and for us to get to know you and your daughter.
Senior School
Year 7
The application deadline for Year 7 2027 bursary applications is Saturday 31 October 2026.
The application deadline for Year 7 2027 fee paying applications is no later than 2 January 2027, although due to the competition for places, your early application is advised.
Girls applying for a new place for Year 7 will be invited to sit our entrance exam, which takes place in January each year.
The next Year 7 entrance assessment is on Friday 15 January 2027 and will take place in school. There’s no need to prepare for the exam; we are looking for potential and understanding rather than any specific subject knowledge.
Students currently in Year 6 in our Junior school do not need to sit the entrance exam unless they are applying for a bursary We monitor the girls’ progress continually, and will ensure a seamless transition into Year 7. If we feel the Senior School is not the right environment for any student due to its high academic standards, we will have a conversation with parents individually.
Years 8 – 10
Girls will sit our entrance assessment in school or online if necessary. We’ll also ask for a reference from their current school and invite girls for an interview with our Head, Mrs Keller. Our selection will be based on the results of the test as well as their interview and reference.
Sixth Form
Years 12 – 13
Girls will be invited to find out more about our school with a visit/tour and will have an interview with our Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Maddy Sommers.
We’ll request a reference from their current school, and offers of places are conditional on exam results. We require an average of Grade 6 across eight GCSE subjects, including English and Mathematics. For individual subject requirements, please see our Sixth Form Prospectus.
Step 3 – Offers of places
Offers of places will be made shortly after the entrance assessments.
