Details and how to apply
For girls aged 3 and 4, our Nursery is the first step of an NGHS education.
A day at our Nursery
Our aim is to provide a fun, happy, safe environment for girls to develop their confidence, skills and love of learning. A day or a session at our Nursery is educational and fun from beginning to end.
Timings of the day
The Nursery day mirrors the current school day, opening from 8.00am until 4.00pm with both Before School Club from 7.30am and After School Club until 6.00pm, available at an additional charge.
Individual session times are 8.00am – 1.00pm for a morning session, including lunch. All-day sessions run from 8.00 – 4.00pm.
During the morning session girls engage in learning activities, including child-led play, to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
Exciting additional learning opportunities take place in the afternoons, including Forest School, Languages, Food Technology, Music and Sport.
It is expected that girls will attend a minimum of one full day and two further morning sessions per week but full days are preferred. The 15 hours Free Entitlement Funding can be used to cover the morning sessions only.
-
Uniform
Girls wear the NGHS navy PE sweatshirt, sky blue polo shirt, navy jog pants or shorts, school coat and white trainers. They may also wear the NGHS summer dress in the Summer Term if they choose to. All of these items are available from Stevensons, our online school wear provider.
-
Meals and snacks
We request that a healthy snack (chopped fruit or vegetables) and water be brought to Nursery every day.
At 11.45am girls enjoy a home-cooked nutritious hot lunch in our state-of-the-art dining hall. We have a team of chefs who prepare a range of fresh meals every day, catering for a variety of dietary requirements. Girls are encouraged to try new foods to broaden their repertoire and Nursery staff eat with the girls, encouraging sociable meal times and good table manners.
A snack can also be provided in the afternoon for girls staying for After School Club beyond 4.00pm.

How to join
Parents are welcome for a tour of the Nursery, Infant and Junior School at any time. Girls are invited to attend a taster session before an application for a place is made, after which we will arrange a further ‘stay and play’ session. This is an excellent way to begin building a trusting relationship with parents and their daughters, enabling us to find out as much as we need to help girls settle and flourish in our Nursery, and for parents to be able to ask us any questions they may have.
