Senior Excellence
With a glowing report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in March 2024 for both academic achievement and personal development, our Senior School is truly incredible. We are a selective school with high academic standards and a commitment to excellence. Every single girl here can excel in whatever she chooses to do. How do I apply for a place at Nottingham Girls’ High School?
You can apply online via our application form here. You can also email our Admissions Manager at admissions@not.gdst.net or call us on 0115 935 4444 if you have any questions about the process.
You will need to pay a non-refundable fee of £120 on application.

What are the entry requirements for Nottingham Girls’ High School?
As an academically-selective school, for Year 7 entry, your daughter will need to take part in an assessment day which takes place in January each year. This is a mixture of classroom-based activities and assessments to test her literacy, numeracy and reasoning skills.
For applications for Year 8 and above, your daughter will need to sit a three-hour assessment, covering English, Maths and Reasoning.
We will also invite you to meet our Head, Mrs Julie Keller, for an informal interview, and we will request a reference from her current school.

Can my daughter join Nottingham Girls’ High School from another school mid way through the year?
Yes, we do have some places available in Year 8 – 10 each year. Please contact us before starting your application to check. We can also take new students at varying points throughout the year, depending on your circumstances.
Please be aware that we do not accept new students into Year 11 or Year 13, due to these being GCSE and A Level exam years.

When are the next Senior School Open Events?
We hold a whole school Open Day every September – the next one is on Saturday 26 September.
We also host Year 7 Taster Days in March (for students in Year 5) and October (for students in Year 6).
Your daughter can also join us for the day at any time during the school year. Please contact our Admissions Manager at admissions@not.gdst.net or call 0115 935 4444 to arrange a suitable time.

Are scholarships or bursaries available for Senior School applicants?
Yes we have a small number of means-tested bursary awards for Year 7 entry each year and a number of merit-based scholarships which are available to apply for once your child is in Year 7. More information on bursaries can be found here.
Due to the competition for bursaries, applications for Year 7 must be made by end of October (when your daughter is in Year 6) for entry in September the following year.
