An environment designed to inspire
Our modern, exciting facilities provide an inspiring environment in which to learn.
State-of-the-art
Our Senior School is an inspiring place in which to learn and grow, with expert staff who are dedicated to teaching girls, and innovative facilities to provide them with everything they need to succeed.
Spaces for Science
Our fully equipped Science labs introduce all our girls to the importance of Biology, Chemistry and Physics and some Astronomy too. As well as studying these crucial subjects, our students can also take advantage of some of our science-based enrichment activities like Pet Club, STEM Club, and essential for all budding medics and vets, Dissection Club!
Spaces for Structure
Learning how to design, create and make items from scratch is a core part of our Design and Technology department. Girls learn to 3D model and print, they build structures out of wood, metal and acrylic and they solder, wire and glaze. We have a fully equipped materials workshop, three 3D printers and a whole textiles department where girls learn to use a sewing machine to make and mend. They can then put their modelling skills to good use upstairs in our Food Tech department where they learn all about nutrition, healthy eating and meal planning before making a range of tasty savoury and sweet delights. All vital skills for when they eventually leave home!
Spaces for Searching
What once was an abandoned bit of scrub, is now a thriving, green wooded wonderland for learning and play. From bug huts to mushrooms, tall trees to tiny plants, girls learn about the importance of our eco system and protecting our natural environment. Our younger girls enjoy being active on the tyre swings and rope walks and getting messy in our mud kitchen, while our older girls enjoy building fires and creating their own pizzas in our outdoor pizza oven.
Spaces for Sport
Our 1875 Sports Centre is one of our shining achievements where girls can play any number of sports and take part in their own fitness programmes. In this newly refurbished flexible indoor sports hall and gymnasium, alongside with our brand new fully equipped gym and fitness studio, girls learn that sport is for all and they take part in every lesson and fixture with ambition and passion. Junior girls love to take part in gymnastics, judo and cricket, while our older girls learn climbing, archery and self defence. There is no embarrassment or shame amongst our sportswomen – they love being active, competing against other teams and understand the benefits of being active for life.
Spaces for Sharing
Our purpose-built professional theatre is very special to us. The Squire Performing Arts Centre, named after our alumnae Dame Rosemary Anne Squire DBE, provides girls of all ages the opportunity to sing, act, dance and even direct in front of a 260 seater audience. Every year our girls demonstrate their talents in music, drama and performing arts through our ever expanding roster of choirs, bands, ensembles, orchestras, plays, musicals and house festivals. From the Early Years Nativity through to the Sixth Form rock band, every girl will enjoy the wonders of this inspirational space.
