She is very confident and is able to express herself in class clearly and fluently. Nothing holds her back!

“The small class sizes helped our daughter to settle in and make friends very quickly.  The teachers are so experienced and inspire such curiosity in the girls. With their encouragement, our daughter made a great start on her reading, writing and maths. Our daughter particularly benefited from the all-girls environment.  She is very confident and is able to express herself in class clearly and fluently. Nothing holds her back!”

  • Can my daughter join Nottingham Girls Junior School in any year group?

Yes, we do have some places available in each year group each year; please contact us before starting your application to check. We can also take new students at varying points throughout the year, depending on your circumstances.

  • What happens during the admissions process?

Once you have submitted your online application, and paid your registration fee, your daughter will be invited to attend an assessment day where she will take part in normal lessons, and assessments to identify her numeracy, literacy and potential to learn.

You will also have the opportunity to meet our Head of Juniors, Mrs Laura Fowler, if you haven’t already. We will also request a reference from her current school. For children wanting to join Reception (age 4+), they will attend a “Ready for School” assessment.

  • Can I visit the Junior School before applying?

Yes of course, we would always recommend you visit any school before applying to meet the staff, see the facilities and make sure it’s the right place for your child. Your daughter can also attend an Experience day with us, taking part in lessons and activities, and meeting our Head of Juniors, Mrs Laura Fowler. To book a visit, please email admissions@not.gdst.net or call our Admissions Manager on 0115 935 4444.

  • When should I apply for a place at Nottingham Girls Junior School?

For entry in September, for any year group, we recommend you apply by the end of April / as the Summer term starts. This will give us enough time to meet you and your daughter, arrange any necessary assessment and experience days, and give you enough time to make that all-important decision. It will also ensure you have a guaranteed place in September by the time we break up for the Summer holidays.
