Our team of specialist teachers are here to provide an inspiring beginning to an NGHS education. We start small and aim high.
An extraordinary team
Our Nursery is in the capable hands of a specialist Early Years qualified teacher who engages the girls in activities to improve their skills and grow their confidence.
A creative learning journey
Specialist teachers deliver additional activities in the afternoons, including Forest School, Food Technology, Sport, Music and Languages. A unique blend to set our youngest learners on an exciting learning journey.
The staff who deliver these sessions are dedicated and enthusiastic, and extremely well qualified. They know their subjects and lending their expertise to our youngest girls is a brilliant way to initiate a lifelong love of learning.
Our onsite woodland, Upnah Wood, is the perfect setting for developing a love of the outdoors and nature. It’s hugely beneficial to physical wellbeing, expanding vocabulary and problem solving skills. A range of learning activities are delivered in the woodland, and the girls love it.
Children love to spend time in the kitchen, cooking and baking. It’s the best way to develop mathematical and scientific language, listening and physical skills, whilst learning about safety in food preparation, healthy foods and food sources. And of course, it’s a chance to get messy.
Early ball skills, running games, balance yoga and climbing all build physical strength and a sense of wellbeing, including self-esteem and confidence in young children. They are also a lot of fun.
Girls enjoy a fun and engaging music session which includes movement, dance and singing. Exposure to different musical instruments also begins to nurture an interest in making music, and we’ve seen this love of music grow and flourish as girls move up the school.
Using simple songs, greetings and puppetry, our Nursery girls are introduced to French. The best time to instill a love of languages is during these early years when the mind is at its most open and curious.
