As it is the school’s 140 year anniversary this year, this particular alumnae reunion on Saturday 7 May was a very special event.

There were over 130 ex-pupils and members of staff too walking the school corridors again, enjoying a trip down memory lane and sharing stories of school days gone by.

The ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Dining Hall sitting with friends from their year groups, or with new friends just made. There is always so much to talk about, so many notes to compare and so much laughter to be had.

Tours of the school were then taken and everybody marvelled at the progress made and the building extensions that are still in progress, and of course they remembered the shenanigans that used to occur in their old classrooms.

Afternoon tea and cakes followed in the School Hall surrounded by displays of pictures from the school archives showing NGHS through the ages – always fascinating. The Sixth Form girls helped out during the whole day and were there as the 140 years celebration cake was cut. It was a fabulous day enjoyed by all who attended.
