Our students enjoyed a fantastic and insightful evening during our Careers Fair. The event held as part of National Careers Week welcomed over 40 organisations with students and families attending from Year 9 – Year 13.

There was an electric atmosphere in the Sports Hall as our students wandered around talking and engaging with a number of exhibitors. We were pleased to be able to showcase a range of careers from Engineering and Architecture to Creative industries, Construction and Healthcare and welcomed businesses from the Financial and Legal sector. We were also pleased to welcome the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Projects Trust, Uniformed Services and of course a range of Universities.

It wouldn’t be an NGHS event without alumnae attending and inspiring our students.  We were able to welcome back future trainee solicitor Caitlin Orr, Class of 2017, Civil Engineer Hayley Jackson, Class of 2014, Emily Winsor-Russell, Class of 2007 who is Director of New Business at Eden PR, Dr Ramara Collins, Class of 2011, Dr Saumiya Kesavan, Class of 2017 and our most recent leaver,Vet, India Newbury, Class of 2018.

We are also very grateful to our parent and wider NGHS community for exhibiting at the event. You have not only inspired our students about their university and career opportunities but have also raised their aspirations, developed awareness of careers they may not have considered before and hopefully made them excited about their future.

Our exhibitors were very impressed with the level of engagement from our students and the range of topics they wished to discuss, particularly about Higher Education.

Likewise, our students and parents found the event very helpful and appreciated the opportunity to learn about different possibilities for the future and to speak to businesses about career pathways within a variety of industries:

“I found the fair very informative and it gave ample opportunity to make connections with those in my chosen career pathway.”

“I learnt a lot about the interview for veterinary medicine and tips to help me stand out in the application process. Ruddington Vets were really nice and gave me lots of great advice.”

This biennial event is a great way to showcase the huge variety of opportunities available to our students, and to inspire and encourage them to follow their career dreams. We’re very grateful to everybody who came along to exhibit, and to those who came to speak with them.
