A series of ‘It’s in Nottingham’ festive activities, organised on Bridlesmith Gate by the Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID) and local retailers, has raised over £700 for Nottingham charity PASIC – Parents Association for Seriously Ill Children.
The University of Nottingham Brass Band and the Nottingham Girls’ High School Buskers entertained Christmas shoppers with festive tunes and songs. Visitors to the area were also treated to mulled wine, Prosecco, mince pies, Christmas treats, giveaways, discounts and offers from various retailers as well as a competition to win a £500 shopping spree with Ted Baker. In addition The Tokenhouse provided a gift wrapping service in return for a donation to PASIC.
Louise Whittle, operation and fundraising manager at PASIC, a Nottingham charity that provides emotional, financial and social support to families of children and young people with cancer, leukaemia and brain tumours said; “We’re incredibly touched by the generosity and community spirit of the public, buskers and businesses on Bridlesmith Gate. This amazing sum will make a real difference enabling PASIC to brighten up the lives of more local families of children and young people with cancer this Christmas.”
“The girls from Nottingham Girls’ High School demonstrated great teamwork and endurance on Saturday when they visited three different sites in the city centre to entertain Christmas shoppers. Their enthusiasm did not wane and I am immensely proud of all of them for the empathy and commitment that they have shown to helping PASIC – a charity extremely close to this school’s heart.” said Laura Fowler, Head of the Junior School at Nottingham Girls’ High School.
