The Community Fundraising Area Manager for Hearing Dogs, Vicky Ryan, recently heard about our Infant and Junior School programme of events for National Deaf Awareness Week .

She was especially impressed by the £2.3k raised for Hearing Dogs through this year’s sponsored spell, our collaboration with Instagram’s @deafchefofficial, and our whole school BSL message to Max Bown and his friends at the Mary Hare School for the Deaf  which you can see here:

To show her appreciation for our girls’ endeavours and the generosity of our parent body, Vicky visited NGHS Juniors on Thursday 16 June with hearing dog Jet and his owner, Jo. Over a working lunch with the visitors, our Year 6 Sisters of Charity arranged for our donation to be used to help fund the Hearing Dogs breeding programme and the raising of three puppies.

And in the afternoon, every class had the chance to meet Jet and discover how assistance dogs can help people with disabilities.

Once again, we thank our school community for helping us to empower our girls to make a positive difference through their own efforts and achievements.
