As a member of the GDST family of schools, we’re proud to provide an education “where girls learn without limits”. And as this school year edges towards its conclusion, this limitless learning carries on for our Year 11 and Year 13 girls, even when their classroom lessons have finished.

It’s been another tough year for GCSE and A-level pupils as the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting restrictions have yet again affected their learning. With no formal exams to sit or prepare for, it would be easy to lose direction and motivation. How could we provide further engagement and opportunities to continue preparing for life in the Sixth Form and for life beyond Sixth Form for those in Year 13? The GDST has a rich history in providing exactly what girls’ need to succeed, and to a very high standard. So the GDST and NGHS have taken on the challenge of filling the education gap left by the COVID crisis and have put together an incredible, inspirational programme of Limitless Learning for Year 11 and Year 13. You can see the full Year 13 programme HERE.

Bringing together students from across the family of schools, there is a timetable of valuable online sessions including not only academic lessons but useful life skills, social events, career and UCAS preparation techniques. It’s such a diverse and interesting programme covering the conventional and not so conventional subjects on offer at university, as well as sessions about time management, leadership skills and financial advice for those about to enter the wider world.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated team ensuring that these vital stages of preparation for the future of Year 11 and Year 13 are met. Whatever choices our pupils have made, their final decisions will be well informed after Limitless Learning. We can rest assured that our Year 11 girls will be equipped with the knowledge and support that they need to progress into Sixth Form and go forward to attain further academic success there. And the provision of Virtual Work Experience from the Bright Network is a unique and innovative way to ensure the girls do not miss out on this due to the pandemic.

Our Year 13 girls will be confident in the decisions they’ve made about their future, be it a gap year, a university place or an apprenticeship.  Linking up with girls from across the GDST for subject and city socials linked to their next steps means the girls have been able to widen their network. Giving them this support, not only academic but emotional and practical, is the best way we can prepare them for what lies ahead. They’ve worked so hard through such a challenging time with so much disruption, they deserve every chance of success and reaping the rewards for their efforts.
