Here at NGHS, we all know how lucky we are to have our School Nurse, Brenda Williams, supporting our students. She is a true expert and great friend to everyone here, and we were delighted to see her amazing work with young people recognised in a very special way this month.

Brenda was invited to attend Her Majesty the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in recognition of all the support she’s given to young people over the years. She is one of a select group of people who were nominated by their local communities for their hard work and positive impact.

They all enjoyed time in the Palace gardens for afternoon tea, where members of the Royal Family attended to chat with the guests. We can’t think of anyone more deserving!

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Brenda on behalf of the whole school community for the exceptional and genuine care she shows us all. She is the person who we all turn to for advice, guidance, care and support. She is always available for a cup of tea and a chat, and for the more complex needs, she has a wealth of knowledge at her fingertips. Her connections across the community and vast experience in the medical world also mean that she can ensure our students receive the very best medical and pastoral care for their individual health and wellbeing needs.

Returning to school after her trip to London, Brenda spoke about her experience, saying:

“It was absolutely amazing, I loved it. I feel so proud and privileged to have been nominated and to attend such a special event.”

We’ll always be grateful to Brenda for everything she has done and continues to do for the school. And we’re so pleased that she had an amazing day receiving such worthy recognition.
