Our Open Days are always among our favourite days, and this year’s whole school Open Day on 12 October was no exception. We’re so proud of our unique school, full of expert staff and extraordinary girls and to see it filled with new families wanting to find out more about us is a huge amount of fun!

Our Performing Arts Centre, The Space, was filled to the rafters as families gathered to hear Head, Julie Keller and Head of Nursery, Infant and Juniors, Laura Fowler’s, speech at the start of the day. To the beautiful sound of the harp, played by one of our girls, visitors enjoyed breakfast and a chat with our Senior Leadership Team, before being treated to a performance from our Swing Band on the stage. There’s music every day at NGHS, so starting our Open Day with such fabulous performances felt only right!

Julie Keller and Laura Fowler shared their passionate and expert views on what makes NGHS so very special, showcasing the ways we ignite girls’ intellectual spark, stimulate their sense of adventure, and nurture their individuality. As one of the 25 GDST schools, they were proud to explain how our girls and staff benefit from the expertise and strength of this powerful network. It was wonderful to see families enjoying learning about our unique offering.

Visitors enjoyed tours throughout the morning, and this was the very best part of the day! There was something for everyone, and girls were blown away by the vibrant, colourful and interactive activities. From fireworks in our Chemistry labs, printing mugs in Design Technology and mosaic making in our Classics rooms, to improvising their own Drama productions, everyone had an incredibly exciting time.

Of course a visit to NGHS wouldn’t be complete without some adventure, so the morning ended in Upnah Woods with our outdoor extravaganza. Low ropes, climbing, marshmallow toasting and making lots of friends, we were delighted to see so many girls having the best of times. What a lovely group of people and a wonderful, positive atmosphere.
