Here at Nottingham Girls’ High School we have a lot to offer, and not just to our own school community. Our community partnership and outreach programme Reach Out has been going strong for the past seven years, delivering hundreds of projects to thousands of KS2 children from local schools. These have involved some amazing creative and educational activities from outdoor learning to business and enterprise, all designed to encourage a love of learning and achievement, which in turn results in raised levels of attainment.

Of course, Reach Out has had to adapt along with everybody else during the current climate, and they have done so in a brilliant way, with the interactive Reach Out Resource Room (RORR) and Catalogue.

Taking their fantastic provision online has enabled Reach Out to do just that, reach out to even more children, families and schools than before. Offering an abundance of free educational resources and activities, some designed by NGHS staff and pupils and others available nationally from external providers such as the BBC, HSBC and the Wild Life Trust to name but a few – there is something to appeal to everybody. And during this period of school closures and uncertainty, the provision has been extended to local city and county schools with lots signing up already. We’re really excited about where this is going! Just because we are currently unable to welcome visiting schools through our doors doesn’t mean that they are not welcome to participate in our activities.

With dedicated members of staff and Outreach Prefects from our Sixth Form working hard to deliver this wonderful interactive resource, we’re really proud to be helping our partner schools to boost a love of learning in their children.

With a different theme planned for each month, the excitement never stops. Always topical, always educational, and always available, the Reach Out Resource Room is just another example of how we are working hard to maintain a sense of normality and stability for our NGHS pupils as well as those of our partner schools.
