Some of our Year 9 and year 10 students were extremely fortunate to visit Valencía at the end of the spring term. A great opportunity to explore and experience new things alongside our peers as well as practise our linguistic skills.

Lacking sleep due to excitement, we arrived at  school by 3:45 am! ¡Qué temprano! (How early!) ready for our journey. We boarded the coach after passport checks, beginning our four hour journey to Heathrow Airport, still buzzing with energy

We finally arrived in Valencia, thinking Spain would hit us with a warm breeze of the air but instead, a cold, wet storm fell over us for the first few days of our trip. ¡Qué lástima! (What a shame!) However, the adventure we had made up for it.

Day one of our trip started off by a visit to The Arts and Science Museum where we saw a wide range of artefacts. One of our favourite places was the mirror room which had a display of space photos and relaxing music ¡Qué guay! (How cool!) After exploring the museum we later moved on to the aquarium! It was full of exotic animals including turtles, several species of fish and even more outdoors. This included flamingos, seals and much more. What a treat!

Day two involved a boat trip around the rice fields where we saw the rice that is used for the famous Spanish dish Paella! We then had the opportunity to experience Spanish cuisine where we tasted their authentic Paella and it was delicious. ¡Ñam ñam! Full of energy, we all headed down to the beach where we relaxed and explored the pier side shops. The weather was perfect!

Day three we visited The Cathedral Of Valencia where we trekked up several flights of stairs. Gasping for air and out of breath, we were rewarded with the spectacular sight of the gigantic bell. There was also a magnificent view of the old town so it was worth it. The old town was explored which was incredibly beautiful. We were especially fortunate to experience flamenco lessons with experts. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and even wore some flamenco attire! It was hugely appreciated!

Our final day was spent at a Spanish school where we polished up on our Spanish vocal skills. Later on, we had our final chance to be free of the teachers for a couple of hours so we crammed in some last minute shopping and grabbed a bite to eat. Before we knew it, it was already time to grab our bags and set off for Valencia Airport! Unfortunately, this meant that our extraordinary trip was coming to an end.

We arrived back home at one o’clock in the morning where we were finally reunited with our family after several days of being away from them. We just wanted to say a massive thank you to Mrs Pilling and Mrs Blasco for organising this trip, Mrs Burton, Mrs Cann and Miss Spray for joining us and any other member of staff who made this trip possible. It was definitely a trip to remember with memories we will cherish forever!

Take a look at these incredible photographs taken by Isabella in Year 10. Thank you for letting us share them:
